How Do You Work It Out?

Step 1. Eat a light snack for fuel

Golden Delicious apple with 1 Tbsp Sunbutter

Step 2. Drink coffee for energy, and Foam roll those muscles

IMG_1141

Skip those artificial energy drinks that are full of God knows what, and choose a cup of black coffee.

Same results, no chemicals added.

IMG_0327

And remember to hydrate as well.

Step 3. Get Pumped Up!

Peas and Crayons

The time has finally come.

I am officially beginning to like the taste of SunButter.

IMG_0630

Not that it’s a big deal if I didn’t like it, I just hate to waste food. I would have found a way to finish the jar, or snuck some into Matt’s sandwiches to see if he noticed Smile

Breakfast this morning

IMG_0656

Banana egg white oats, topped with blueberries and a mixture of raw almond butter and sunbutter.

I like to try all different types of food, and it’s good to have a variety of nutrients in our diet.

Since the summer is creeping up at a rapid pace, delicious fruits such as cherries, berries, kiwis and melons will begin to stock the shelves at grocery stores and Farmer’s Market’s.

All fruits and vegetables taste better when they are in season, and I like to incorporate all of them into my daily dishes.

I’m loving pineapple lately, and have been adding some to my yogurt and smoothies for a juicy hint of tang. Eating it frozen is delicious as well, and makes for a great night time snack mixed with some dark chocolate or cottage cheese.

IMG_0654

I like to have variety when it comes to my beverages as well. I can only drink so much water.

Tea, Coffee, Naturally sweetened lemonade, ACV cocktails.

IMG_0648IMG_0649IMG_0650

you can also make your own lemonade by combining water, fresh lemon juice, and a packet of all natural sweetener such as Truvia or Stevia

Here’s a fun chart describing what Tea works best for you depending on your mood.

I also get plenty of vegetables in different forms throughout my week.

eggwhite omelet with kale, steamed broccoli and carrots, 1/2 cold sweet potato topped with melted coconut oil, which forms a hard shell of tropical bliss.

Mother’s Day Kabobs, a favorite of mine in the summer months

I always grab the skewer with the most charred vegetables on it Smile

Once we find what we like, it’s easy to eat the same foods over and over again. However, it’s important to give your body an abundance of nutrients from different sources to stay strong, energetic and glowing.

Start introducing a healthy variety of fruits, vegetables, proteins and fats into your diet to find what makes YOUR body happy.

Sunshine and SunButter

The weekend is here, and it’s going to be beautiful!

That means ice coffee, a run around the lake, and reading by the water in a beach chair.

IMG_0584

I’m almost done with Fifty Shades of Grey, and will be starting the second book immediately after.

While I agree that this book is extremely captivating, all of the hype surrounding the eroticism and fetishes involving the character’s relationship, seems a bit odd to me.

It’s 2012. Flip on your TV after 10pm and you’ll see borderline inappropriate scenes right in your living room.

Get over it.

I can however, understand why so many people are loving this book, and how it’s helping marriages around the world reignite that “spark” in their intimate relationship.

Hey, whatever works.

So…I bought some SunButter today, and I don’t think I’m a fan.

IMG_0630

It was on sale for $2.99 at Market Basket, so I figured I’d give it a shot.

The taste may take some getting used to.  I’m not sure how I feel about it yet, but I know that it never replace my Raw Almond Butter.

IMG_0387

I don’t think anything ever will.

What never lets me down at Market Basket, is their crispy chocolate chip cookies

IMG_0629

Since I love slightly burnt toast, well done pizza and charred vegetables, these thin and crispy cookies are right up my alley.

And they are awesome  dipped in milk Smile.

OK enough about dessert.

Before the gym, I had a yogurt bowl of frozen pineapple tidbits, blueberries, and Kashi GoLean cereal.

Since I sometimes make up workouts as I go, using notepad on my iPhone is so helpful in keeping track of my routines.

I ended with 30 minutes of HIIT on the elliptical, followed by a good stretch in the Yoga studio.

And some Organic Ginger Pear White tea.
