Go With Your Gut.

What started off as a fun Labor Day weekend, ended with an inconvenient and severe gastritis attack that is still lingering in my gut as we speak.

oh stomach..you’re so temperamental

I’ve always had a sensitive stomach, and despite the issues I’ve experienced with it in the past, I’ve never been one to deprive myself a taste of anything.

With that said, after having only a small scoop of chicken, broccoli and ziti, and a taste of baked eggplant parm at my parents bbq, I was left surrendering to cramps, bloating, muscle spasms and headaches galore.

I mean, I should have known better.

Heavy dishes saturated in oil, butter, and marinara sauce hurt my stomach on their own, let alone all together on one plate as one big happy family.

So of course, my stomach decided to rebel, and sent my hunched over and defeated self to the couch for the rest of the weekend. There I lay,Sunday-Monday,on my right side watching movies, reality TV, and eating dry toast.

Not how I planned to finish off the summer.

Lesson of the day: Always go with your gut. Learn your body, what it can and can’t tolerate, and only eat what makes you feel your best.

For now, I will be taking it easy until my stomach feels better, sticking to light walks, stretching, bland foods and water water water.

oats, berries, banana and 1 scoop vanilla Sunwarrior with water.

This means that my Pumpkin coffee will have to wait.

Absence makes the heart grow founder. <3

What foods upset your stomach? I don’t do well with acidity, oils, and carbonated beverages..just to name a few!

Vacation Procrastination

Today shall be crazy.

Packing, cleaning, errands…I’m such a procrastinator.

But that’s what super strong coffee is for Smile

I headed to the gym bright and early, sweated all over the arc trainer, and fit in some back, bi’s and tri’s.

Stretch

Due to the rain, and the people who suddenly lose all driving ability when a droplet hits the ground, it took me a good 35 minutes to get home.

If only cars could fly…

Jenna Jetson. I like it.

When I finally made it home, I quickly ate breakfast, chugged some water, and am now ready to battle the busy day ahead

Thirsty Thursday {Halloween Weekend}

The weather today was perfect for staying in bed and watching reality television for hours.

Unfortunately, we live in the real world (hehe) where laziness is not an option.

Unless your name is Kate Middleton, when in that case you can sit your pretty behind on the couch for weeks on end if that was your wish.

As for us regular folks, jobs, errands and workouts fill the hours of our days. Plus, it’s Halloween weekend and there is much to get done!!

And then it’s time for a drink.

It’s the final Thirsty Thursday before All Hallows Eve, and I have a recipe that your entire party will enjoy.

Especially the vampires

Bloody Punch Bowl

  • 2 Bottles Diet Cranberry Sierra Mist
  • 1 bottle Juicy Juice 100% Apple Juice
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1 bottle clear alcohol of choice (Bacardi, Vodka, Tequila) I prefer rum or vodka
  • 1/2 cup fresh cranberries

Mix liquid ingredients in a large punch bowl or black witches’ caldron. Add cranberries and serve with ladle.

For floating ice hand: Fill 2 (not powdered) latex gloves with water, tie the end with a rubber band and freeze for about 4 hours. Once the water is frozen solid, remove the glove and place hand inside of punch bowl. Keep the other hand in freezer for replacement.

Enjoy!!

Organic Inside Out Apple Pie

Apple crisp, apple cobbler, apple pie..I love it all.

Scoop some vanilla ice cream on top with a dollop of whipped cream, and I am in heaven. The combination of warm apple and cold ice cream is amazing.

Organic Inside Out Apple Pie

Step 2: Mix apples, lemon juice, vanilla and a dash of cinnamon in bowl and pour into baking dish.

006

Step 3: Mix oats, brown sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon in a bowl. Cut in butter and toss with hands

007

Step 4: Sprinkle mixture on top of apples and place into oven at 375 for 45 minutes or until topping looks golden and apples, tender.

Finished product.

It tastes and smells delicious.

The mixture cooled in the pan for about 5 minutes before I transferred it into a bowl with a cover. I find that this process really brings all of the flavors together, and saturates the apples in warm cinnamon goodness.

(Hint: For added protein, substitute vanilla ice cream for plain or vanilla greek yogurt!)

Enjoy!! xoxo
