Bike Rides and Burning Abs

Matt and I just got in from a long, hot day on the bike.

We went out for breakfast, took a drive to Salem Willows, and saw a whole bunch of new frozen yogurt places in the our area that I can’t wait to try.

Matt had to go on a service call early this morning, so while he did that, I fit in a workout until he was done.

Cardio: 40 minutes on the Arc Trainer, increasing the incline and resistance every 5 minutes.

Followed by this AB circuit that I made up as I went along, and I can’t wait for you guys to try it!

Screamin’ ABs

  • 1 minute: Full Body Crunch
  • 1 minute: Alternating Ankle Taps (Legs straight up towards ceiling, keeping abs engaged while alternating taps on the outsides of your ankles)
  • 1 minute: Alternating Jack Knife

(To make the move harder, omit the medicine ball, and leave both legs about an inch off of the ground, alternating lifting your chest towards your knee)

  • 30 seconds: Plank Knee Crossovers
  • 30 seconds:  In and Outs

Rest 1 minute and repeat 3-5x

Have fun Smile

My parents are away this weekend, so that means no “Pasta Sunday” dinner. Instead, Matt and I will be ordering take out, watching movies, and relaxing for the night.

Sounds good to me!

Satur-Date {Hard Rock Cafe}

Warm nights in Boston are my favorite.

Especially when there’s fireworks.

The city was packed due to college graduations, but we got lucky and found on street parking. Score!

Speaking of college, this past weekend marks 4 years since I graduated from Suffolk University.

I officially feel old.

Matt and I walked through Faneuil Hall, along the Waterfront, and through the North End before deciding where to eat. Because Sunday’s at my house are always a buffet of Italian food, we often opt for other cuisine when we dine out.

We wanted a laid back atmosphere with a good bar and lively crowd, so we ended up at Hard Rock Café before meeting my parents and some friends for a drink later in the night.

Veggie Burger topped with grilled Portobello mushroom, roasted red pepper, sliced zucchini, squash, lettuce and tomato. Side of steamed broccoli

After dinner, we walked back to the North End for a drink on Ristorante Fiore’s roof deck, which is the perfect spot on a beautiful night.

Plus, it’s close to Gelateria!!

Chocolate and Coconut.

. Hangover city has become a frequent destination of mine on the weekends. I’m hating that I can’t party like I used to

You MUST remember to drink water while you drink alcohol. It makes all the difference.

I got to the gym early Sunday morning for a torturous 45 minutes on the Stair Climber, followed by my 300 Rep ABS

Post Workout Protein Oats

IMG_0682

  • 1/3 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup AllWhites
  • 1/2 scoop chocolate Sunwarrior protein powder
  • 1 Tbsp ground flax
  • strawberries and blueberries.

The rest of the weekend was spent on Matt’s Harley, and if you think my 300 abs workout is bad, try riding on the back of a bike all afternoon.

Constant contraction of the abs

Satur-Date {Legal Seafoods}

I’ll make this post short and sweet because it’s too beautiful out to be sitting inside on the computer.

And I’d rather be sitting on the back of Matt’s Harley with the wind blowing in my face Smile

Last night, Matt and I spent our “Satur-Date” at Legal Seafoods in Boston’s Long Wharf, and the weather was perfect for a stroll through the city.

Per usual, we headed straight to the bar and ordered a Citron Vodka Soda and a Bud Light bottle.

After chatting with the Bartender and some other eaters, we both knew exactly what we wanted to order for our appetizer.

The Legal Experience

IMG_0542

Blackened raw tuna sashimi with seaweed and ginger, Jumbo shrimp cocktail, Crab cakes, and Steamed seafood wontons.

Though this dish was almost $30, it was definitely money well spent.

Along with another round of drinks, we each ordered the Grilled Cajun salmon from the “make your own entrée” menu. As sides, I opted for brown rice and green beans, while Matt chose a baked potato and jalapeno cheddar polenta, which tasted just like Queso dip.

Delicious!

But the best part of the entire meal was dessert.

If you are a chocoholic like me, you would fall off your chair after one bite of this rich and decadent “Warm Chocolate Pudding Cake”, served with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and a subtle coconut cookie.

The combination of warm chocolate, cool and creamy ice cream, and a crumbly coconut cookie was out of this world.

Matt and I didn’t speak the entire time we shared this heavenly dessert. We even considered ordering another, but then realized that our tropical vacation is less than a week away, so it was best to stop after one plate.

BUT PLEASE ORDER THIS THE NEXT TIME YOU GO!

There is nothing wrong with bonding over a delicious a dessert every once in awhile :)

While Matt was at work this morning, I tackled this workout and followed it up with an ice cold green smoothie.

  • 1 scoop chocolate Sunwarrior
  • 1 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 6 frozen strawberries,
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup frozen spinach
  • water and ice

Tastes so good on a warm day Smile

Now get outside and enjoy yourselves! xoxo
