That’s What I Love About Sunday.

The weather today is glorious, and what Sunday afternoons are made of; windows open, natural lighting, and a comforting candle to fill the room with it’s invisible embrace.

Spiced pumpkin floated through my apartment 5 minutes after lighting the wooden wick, and I am obsessed with it’s strong scent and crackling features.

It is heavenly.

Breakfast was a bowl of egg white oats, ground flax, sliced banana, blueberries and cinnamon.

Perfect fuel for tackling the wild beasts that inhabit the aisles of Stop & Shop on a Sunday morning.

They swerve around you in the parking lot, charge and leap towards the ticket dispenser at the deli, and sneakily stare as you proceed through self checkout.

It’s quite a scene, but the fridge must be filled.

Matt’s side. My side.

At least I got him eating organic yogurt Smile

After my grocery store safari and the daunting task of putting everything away, I needed a small snack to hold me over till lunch.

Today is my day off from the gym, but my appetite is anything but tamed

Grape tomato meet cottage cheese. Cottage cheese, meet grape tomato.

It’s important to keep fueling your muscles, even on rest days.

Don’t listen to that voice that tells you to eat less because your moving less. Eat as you normally eat, snack as you normally snack, and go about your day.

This is how we repair and change our body. It needs rest, just as we need sleep.

While relaxing last night, I finally finished Insurgent, and I cannot wait for the third book to come out.

If you loved The Hunger Games, you will love love love the Divergent and Insurgent. They are full of suspense from start to finish.

Well, this gorgeous is day is creeping by, and we have the Pat’s game and Sunday dinner to look forward too.

You’re a life saver. Smile

I put my chia seeds to use in this morning’s protein packed yogurt bowl.

IMG_0928

  • Fage 0%
  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds
  • 1/2 sliced banana
  • 1/4 cup blueberries
  • 1/2 cup Kashi GoLean!

I’m starting to add grains back into my diet, and I’ve noticed that my stomach issues are much more subtle when I do not eat them everyday. A few times a week, yes, but with a break in between. And those healthy fats are still present in every meal!

Pre-workout Rice Cake

IMG_0932

  • 1 unsalted, gluten free rice cake
  • 1 scoop vanilla Sunwarrior protein mixed with water
  • 1/2 T raw almond butter
  • sliced banana

I’ve had to take a break from INSANITY due to my feet and ankles becoming increasingly sore and cramping.

It’s not as a result of an unstable surface, bad posture or poor sneaker choice, but rather from repetitive pounding of my joints. Even at rest, I am experiencing pain that I did not have before, and it is starting to interfere with my day.

I have come across other INSANITY participants who have complained of the same issues as well, and it is just not worth it to me. So for now, I am going to let my lower half rest, and revisit some of my old routines at the gym!

Complete Set 1, then Set 2, and then break for 1 minute before starting again.

  • Set 1: 15 Push Ups
  • Set 2: 15 Bent Over Dumbbell Row

repeat 3x

  • Set 1: 12 Front Raise
  • Set 2: 12 Lateral Raise

repeat 3x

  1. Set 1: 12 Alternating Bicep Curl
  2. Set 2: 12 Tricep Kickbacks

repeat 3x

30 minute Elliptical

  • 5 minutes forwards at a moderate pace
  • 1 minute reverse at a fast pace.

Post Workout spinach and coconut egg white scramble

IMG_0393

I placed 4 egg whites, a handful of spinach, 1 Tbsp oat bran and 1Tbsp coconut flour in a bowl with water. I microwaved it until the eggs fully cooked, and then scrambled the mixture with my spoon.

Deeeelicious

So after hearing some great reviews about this book, I’ve finally decided to read it.

IMG_0927

It’s comparable to The Hunger Games, very different from Fifty Shades of Grey, and I am loving it so far!

The second book just came out as well, and I’m hearing a movie may also be in the making.

Read about the story line here

Well I’m off to figure out my plans for the 4th!

Rain? No rain? Land or Sea?…Who knows!

Back On Track

I decided to do it…

I’m going to read Fifty Shades of Grey

It’s not my usual type of storyline, but I’m one of those people who like to be, “in the loop”, in regards to today’s best sellers list.

I also plan on diving right into Divergent immediately afterwards.

Quite a difference in plots, I know.

I’ll give you my reviews of these trilogy’s as I read them.

So..although I loved my time away, it’s comforting to settle back into my daily routine.

Pinned Image

After a vacation, it always takes me at least a week to get back on track mentally, especially in the workout and eating department.

I’ve been itching for a good sweat, so this morning I hopped on the Arc Trainer for 50 minutes, randomly alternating inclines and resistance.

IMG_0614

It was just what I needed, even though my legs are still sore from Monday’s workout, which looked a little something like this.

500 Rockin’ Reps

  • 100 squats (broke into 4 sets of 25)
  • 50 static lunges (2 sets of 25) per leg
  • 50 reverse lunges with knee raise (2 sets of 25) per leg
  • 100 plié squats (broke into 4 sets of 25)
  • 50 altering curtsey lunge (2 sets of 25)
  • 50 ice skaters
  • 50 hip bridges (2 sets of 25)
  • 50 mountain climbers

I’ve been stretching all morning to loosen up my hip flexors and quads..ouch

Breakfast was a bowl of Greek yogurt with 2 large strawberries and a handful of blueberries

IMG_0616

loving that berries are starting to drop in price!

I also added a new cereal to the mix, which tasted like a combination of Kix and Special K, with a slight hint of vanilla.

IMG_0618

It’s a good addition to my pantry.

Along with some tea, this rainy morning is off to a good start

Enjoy your day! xoxo
