We made it! Friday is finally here and the weekend is only a few short hours away. I think I can, I think I can!
Bonus- The sun is out! Bonus- this weekend is going to be 50…but raining. But rain melts snow, so pour baby pour.
I’m sure many of you are familiar with the Les Mills workouts. I see a lot of blogging about “Body Pump” and I am a definite fan as well. As I am sure you know, these workouts go beyond any other fitness class, and they vary from yoga, to weights, to dance.
I want to bring your attention to one of the most intense and challenging classes I have ever taken in the Les Mills series . It’s aggressive, it’s loud, it’s full of energy and it works each and every muscle in your body till it hurts. This class has given me the opportunity to literally beat the pudding out of the people who piss me off. (in my mind anyway)
I give you…”Body Combat” by Les Mills
Body Combat is a martial arts based fitness class that combines moves from karate, boxing, taekwondo, tai chi and muay thai. You will kick, upper cut, and strike your way to a chiseled body with electric music amping you up every step of the way. This is a kickboxing class on steroids people. Be prepared to sweat your way to a lean and strong body, while unleashing your inner street fighting warrior.
The class will begin with a quick instructional overview of the different techniques that will be used for the workout (Upper cuts, Hooks, Knee strike etc.), followed by a mental prep to get you in the zone for what’s ahead…the battle of your life. Once the class begins, it’s literally you against the music. How hard can you go? Who will win the fight, you or your opponent? You choose.
Each track that is played is another fight against your imaginary opponent. Keeping up with the music is half the battle. Power, endurance, speed and strength are all incorporated and you will quickly learn each move and begin to excel in your fighting techniques. It is extremely exhilarating to imagine yourself in a fight with that woman who flipped you off in traffic, stole your parking spot…stole your boyfriend? Any target you want to hit, here is your opportunity. 55 minutes of non stop butt kicking that will melt the fat right off of you, while strengthening your body inside and out. The class ends with a quick core session, followed by well deserved meditative stretching.
